Montagnac Cooperative Cellar

Our purpose

Grape Cluster Icon

An Exceptional Terroir between Land & Sea

The unique terroir of our cooperative cellar extends from the shores of the Thau lagoon to the first foothills of the Massif Central. The maritime influences brought by the lagoon particularly favor the AOP Picpoul de Pinet. Further inland, the clay-limestone or red sandstone soils allow for the powerful and structured expression of red and rosé wines in IGP Pays d’Oc or AOP Languedoc.

Languedoc-Montpeyroux Map

Our climate is a major asset, with over 280 days of annual sunshine. The presence of typical Languedoc winds (Tramontane, Marin, Mistral) ensures a healthy vineyard, ideal for our environmental initiatives (HVE, Terra Vitis, Organic Farming). Find out more in our commitment tab.

A collective & committed human adventure

Galhyos is above all a human story, driven by more than 425 passionate winegrowers. Every year, they bring their harvest from the vineyards of Tourbes, Lézignan-la-Cèbe, Loupian, Cournonsec, and Montagnac, contributing to the excellence of our wines.

Under the impetus of the Board of Directors composed of 34 members and chaired by Nicolas Michel, our cooperative is part of a sustainable strategy focused on economic, social, and environmental performance. Our strong commitment to corporate social responsibility is reflected in the ELAN 3D diagnostics and the concrete application of a CSR action plan.

The diversity and complementarity of our teams are essential to our success. Mutual aid, mutual respect, and the active involvement of many women in key positions are the wealth of our collective. Furthermore, the Montagnac Cooperative Cellar actively encourages generational renewal through the regular installation of passionate young winegrowers.

Every year, unifying events such as the cellar festival, the harvest meal, or the presentation of the new vintage offer privileged moments for exchange, sharing, and conviviality, thus strengthening our ties with our members and customers.

Recognized expertise |
Between Tradition & Innovation

With an average annual production of 135,000 hl, our cooperative cellar is an essential historical partner for many local and international merchants. Part of our production is also marketed directly in bottles (400,000) or in BIB (31,000) via our two sales cellars, as well as in large-scale distribution and local catering, and across many countries: England, Germany, Ireland, Benelux, and the US.

Our quality control

Thanks to our facilities and regular investments in modernizing our wineries, our oenologists and cellar teams use their expertise to constantly improve the quality of our wines.

Quality from vine to glass

From the vine to the glass, our teams are constantly improving the various processes and monitoring to be able to produce quality wines while ensuring the safety and traceability of their products, meeting the ever-increasing demands of our customers. The search for added value, the driving force of our cooperative, through the development of plot selection and a rigorous planting policy, will allow us to perfect the vinification and aging of our wines at our two production sites.

Our quality system

The integration of our quality management system into our CSR approach allows us to implement a rigorous set of practices and standards aimed at guaranteeing the quality of the final product, from the vine to the glass. In addition, our HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) analysis plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and quality of the wine throughout the production process until bottling.

Towards continuous improvement

Our quality management system allows for continuous improvement of production processes, fostering innovation and adaptability to market changes. Adaptability is essential for our cooperative in the face of the challenges of climate change and new consumption trends. By adopting resilient and innovative strategies, we can not only mitigate the negative impacts of the climate but also meet the growing expectations of consumers for sustainable and high-quality wines.
